Delegation trip to Canada

Successful delegation trip to Canada during official visit of German Federal President Joachim Gauck.

In September 2014, 15 German representatives of industry and commerce visited the Canadian capital of Ottawa, the parliamentary seat Toronto and the city of Québec. As part of the maritime industry Neander, represented by CEO Lutz W. Lester, could expand contacts in the second largest state of the world (in terms of area).

Undoubtedly Canada is an important partner for the German industry. However, with our outboard motor technology in mind there is one more important issue coming into effect – with 243.042 km Canada has the longest coastline worldwide. Thus it does not surprise that more than 4.3 millions of sail resp. motorboats are registered in Canada. In this market segment the import content constitutes at least one third of the foreign trade. For 20 % of the Canadian imports in the maritime section one counts on outboard engines. With respect to the total population of Canada the proportion between boats and inhabitants is 1:8 (for comparison: in Germany this proportion is 1 boat for 165 inhabitants). For Neander this provides the possibility to establish especially in the market of commercial, e.g in equipping smaller transport and exploitation vessels.

The delegation trip as part of the official visit afforded Neander a good chance to publicise Germany as a business location and to advertise our technology „made in Kiel“. Beside networking with future Canadian partners the delegation members had the oppurtunity for intense dialogues, and they received new perspectives for further cooperations and for strengthening our network.
