Lutz W. Lester receives SEAMASTER-Award 2015
On 17th of January the world’s largest boat show “boot Duesseldorf” in cooperation with Europe’s leading publishing house for maritime media, Delius-Klasing-Verlag, crowned the “SEAMASTER” 2015. This year the choice fell on Lutz W. Lester, Managing Director of Neander Shark GmbH and Chairman of the Board of Neander Motors AG. The event was held as part of the “FLAGSHIP NIGHT”, a get-together which traditionally is the kick-off for the boat show.
For the third year in a row the jury awarded a personality who set special accents in water sports.
For many years Lutz W. Lester has been deeply committing to promoting the maritime world. Based on the technology of the twin crankshaft which successfully was used for the world’s first turbo diesel motorbike by Neander Motorfahrzeuge GmbH – founded in 2003 – he has been puzzling over the world’s first turbo diesel outboard engine since 2009. With his team of 15 employees of Neander Shark GmbH – under the head of Neander Motors AG – and in cooperation with internationally well-known partner companies he now nearly brought the engine to series production. Next year the outboarder will be ready for sale, primarily for commercial shipping, but it will also be available for water sports. This is made possible by the unique patented technology of the twin crankshaft made by Neander. It allows a vibration-free running of the turbocharged 50 hp-diesel engine.
In a rousing laudation the famous German actor Heinz Hoenig honoured Lutz W. Lester for his commitment and creativity in the engine development. Heinz Hoenig himself has been accompanying the company Neander as a friend and testimonial since its foundation. Thus he knows the engine’s original idea since 2000, when Lutz W. Lester was still engaged in the film production industry.
The high-ranking jury is composed of editors-in-chief of the journals BOOTE, BOOTE EXCLUSIV, YACHT and SURF. Chairmen of the jury are Konrad Delius, publisher of Delius-Klasing-Verlag, and Goetz-Ulf Jungmichel, Director of the boat show “boot Duesseldorf”. The award honours personalities who set special accents in water sports with their efforts. “They shall be rewarded for their sustained commitment which has a bearing beyond the present moment and sets standards across national borders” – thus defines Goetz-Ulf Jungmichel the jury’s criteria. However, also the laureate’s personality was particularly taken in account. According to the jury, Lutz W. Lester inter alia distinguishes by the fact that he is considered to be a figurehead within the maritime sector. With his charisma and charm he is a perfect ambassador for water sports.
With the award Lutz W. Lester continues the row of laureates like the exceptional sailor from France, Loϊck Peyron, and the youngest successful America’s Cup-skipper Jimmy Spithill who received the SEAMASTER-Award in the years 2014 and 2013.
